The Disney+ original drama ‘Lighting Store’ has become a massive hit, boosting the popularity of its original webtoon. According to Kakao Entertainment, from December 4 to 15, the webtoon’s viewership increased by 187 times compared to before the show’s release, while revenue surged by 159 times.

‘Lighting Store,’ penned by renowned creator Kang Full, tells mysterious stories centered around individuals caught between life and death. Following the release of Episodes 5 and 6 on December 11, the Disney+ series gained significant global attention.

Kakao Entertainment actively promoted the webtoon on Kakao Webtoon and Kakao Page through various events before the show’s premiere. ‘Lighting Store’ has been praised for its deep and emotionally driven narrative, evolving from chilling mysteries to touching human stories as each character’s story unfolds.

The original webtoon predates Kang Full’s famous work ‘Moving’ and belongs to the same shared universe, known as the ‘Kang Full Universe,’ featuring interconnected characters and storylines.

The Disney+ series ‘Lighting Store’ concluded its run on December 18 with the release of its final episode. The show received widespread acclaim for its high-quality direction, compelling performances, and meticulous storytelling, creating strong synergy with the original webtoon.

A representative from Kakao Entertainment commented, “This year has been remarkable for Kakao Entertainment’s IP adaptations in the video content industry. Starting with ‘Run Away with Seon-jae,’ followed by ‘Lighting Store’ and ‘The Call You Just Missed,’ our works achieved notable success while enhancing the synergy with the original webtoons. We plan to continue investing in competitive IPs and delivering high-quality content for both domestic and international audiences.”
